Hotels and Motels near St Andrews Road – Columbia, SC

"Nothing in my motel room worked. The lights were burned out, the stove fan didn't work, and there was trash under the bed. The staff didn't answer the phone when I called, and the key card stopped working after the 1st night.2016-11-02"

"The motel was a bit out of the way. The 1st room smelled strongly of smoke, so I asked for a room change. The 2nd room had a strong mint smell, but that was acceptable. The room was a little worn and didn't have the best soundproofing, but I didn't expect much else for the price. The motel was fine for a place to sleep, but I wouldn't want my daughter to stay there by herself.2015-05-04"

"Affordable motel, but housekeeping was awful. We asked for a 1st floor room and were put in a pet room, even though we didn't have a pet. The carpet smelled like urine, and there was old garbage under the sink. I asked for a room change the next day, and was given a room that had been flooded. There were socks hanging in the bathroom. So for the 3rd time, we moved to another room.2015-04-03"

"Motel was affordable and nice, but needed elevators. An OK stay.2015-02-19"

Motel 6 on St Andrews BEWARE DON'T GO THERE me and my family was robbed and we had no idea we were in such a danger zone.....
Not only is it unsanitary, it's dangerous. Me & my children stayed at this hotel and was robbed of everything. Our sentiments and over 25,000+ in belongings. They took the uhaul with my truck on the back of it and recovered it an hour later EMPTY. Relocating from NJ to the south. They had no cameras besides one at the register and it was outdated and dark. So NO only because it's not safe and I am blessed to have taken the loss as opposed to getting hurt. No No absolutely not and of course they would say that they have no suspects and Motel 6 couldn't replace my things if they wanted to it's a major loss and me and my sister were relocating with our kids.

COPS HAVE NO SUSPECT AND NO VIDEO AND WAS NEVER REPORTED TO LOCAL PAPER...

We are trying to put our lives back on track now..

Sorry to hear that. I hope the cops are doing SOMETHING!

That is an older area of the city, so probably not the safest.

Are you continuing with your move?

DefaultI am here already

The cops closed the case less than two months. I believe they are doing nothing cause the truck was in so many hands that I wouldn't be surprised if they had there share and it's funny no finger prints were obtained and CSI was on the scene. I was also told by the detective that the DNA can take up to 2 years before they get the results.

I generally try to stay away from that area. I find nearby areas of Greystone/Harbison/Irmo/Lexington to be a lot safer. Thats horrible about what happened. Im actually shocked nothing was able to be done about it really. Depending on how late a report was made after the incident happened, the police generally do patrol that area more so than other parts of the city and it seems to have happened late at night. No Uhaul was spotted late at night unloading 25k worth of items?

It is terrible that this happened, but it is puzzling as to why someone would park a U-haul full of $25,000 worth of merchandise at what is known as a cheap motel chain. Poor judgment doesn't mean a robbery was deserved, but I would have stayed at a nice hotel with security in a case like that.

The Broad River and Bush River Road, especially near where I-20 and I-26 meet is an area that was the place to be about 30+ years ago, but it has gone steadily downhill over about the past 10 years. Crime has increased and they have had problems with prostitutes walking along busy streets waving down customers in broad daylight. Several of the motels around the area where the interstates meet have had shootings and drug busts in addition to prostitution problems. I used to live in the area and it was a huge relief when I was able to move away. I had hoped the new shopping center on Bush River Road would help revitalize the area, but that doesn't seem to be the case.

I agree it's a terrible thing that happened.

Just thinking that whenever I've stayed at a Motel 6, I bring EVERYTHING into the hotel room. Of course I've never parked a U-Haul at one.

But, as a general rule, I never leave anything in the car, not even things in the trunk.

With all due respect, what were you thinking. This type of stuff happens when you stay at a cheap motel in a shady part of town... that $20 you saved in hotel room was not worth it.

Reviews of Motel 6-Columbia, SC - West This rating is a reflection of how the property compares to the industry standard when it comes to price, facilities and services available. It's based on a self-evaluation by the property. Use this rating to help choose your stay!

Start of dialog contentTo keep the rating score and review content relevant for your upcoming trip, we archive reviews older than 36 months.

Only a customer who has booked through Booking.com and stayed at the property in question can write a review. This allows us to verify that our reviews come from real guests like you. Who better to tell others about the free breakfast, friendly staff, or their comfortable room than someone who’s stayed at the property?

We want you to share your story, with both the good and the not-so-good. All we ask is that you follow a few simple guidelines.

Reviews Vision

We believe review contributions and property responses will highlight a wide range of opinions and experiences, which is critical in helping guests make informed decisions about where to stay.

Reviews Principles

Contributions to Booking.com are a reflection of the dedication of our guests and properties, so we treat them with the utmost respect.

Whether negative or positive, we'll post every comment in full, as quickly as possible, after it's moderated to comply with Booking.com guidelines. We'll also provide transparency over the status of submitted content.

After a review has been submitted, you can modify it by contacting Booking.com customer service.

We'll use the same guidelines and standards for all user-generated content, and for the property responses to that content.

We'll allow the contributions to speak for themselves, and we won’t be the judge of reality. Booking.com’s role is to be a feedback distributor for both guests and properties.

Guidelines and Standards for Reviews

These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly, without limiting expression or strong opinions. They're also applicable regardless of the comment's tone.

Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.

Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, or the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.

All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.

Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and other similar details.

The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties, and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.

By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options might be available (by type of traveler, by score, etc...).

Not the best late night staff. Although I don't remember the lady's name who was working, I remember her talking on the phone, on speaker and getting annoyed when I have questions about how to navigate the property. The parking lot is tight. I own a regular size Chevy Silverado and I was afraid to open my door after making the best of it.

The room was clean enough and the bed was comfy and I like that there was so many cool things nearby. I visited the Dungeons and Dragons store and not too far away there is a metaphysical store, (witch or magic store) plenty of options for food. There is a Chucky cheese nearby for the kids and harbison Blvd in not to far away.

    As I said above!!

It was nice one lady up front was very nice… but this morning one staff was upset with me for not taking my bag of trash but I thought they would have put it in the trash can because I didn’t see it and of course I took the trash out of the can into the bag as well so it wouldn’t be difficult for them but they seem aggravated..

They gave me a room that was broken into there was no lights, no linens, no nothing in the room. The door was already open. I went back to get a refund and told the clerk you must be joking. She fixed the problem and gave me another room saying that the room was under construction and that it was a mistake. The room that I did get was comfy for the most part but the lights kept flickering and there was no thunderstorm in the forecast. I was very tired I did sleep peacefully thought.

The bed was comfortable. Bathroom was clean.

    “Good staff makes good business”

    “Motel 6 St Andrews”

I don't like the fact that the rates change daily even if I do use booking.com the weekend rates are more the weekly rates are fair but that brings down the value of the room you will receive there's lots of activity out here but if you stay to yourself and don't associate you'll do just fine motel 6 has a great staff laundry facilities and IHOP across the street shopping facilities close food facilities close and I would advise anyone to call corporate motel 6 if they have any problems or complaints

I like the fact that the shopping centers food centers CVS Walgreens a gas station across the street Chuck e cheese for the children all help add to the vacation
