How to Decorate a Boys Bedroom With a Fishing Theme

By Kathleen Berlew

Accessorize a young angler's room with fishing gear.

Learning to cast a fishing line from the banks of a river or lake is a boyhood rite of passage. To a fisherman of any age, the worn wood of docks and the colors of lures and tackle are familiar, exhilarating sights. With inexpensive furnishings, fishing gear and a few do-it-yourself projects, you can create a bedroom that transports your young angler to a lakeside cabin each time he walks through the door.

Paint and Wood

Utilize a color scheme of blues, greens and wood tones to give the room a lakeside cabin feel. Hardwood or laminate floors mimic a fishing dock or boat deck. Paint the walls sea green or lake blue. Accent one wall by covering it with planks of weathered wood or wood-grain wallpaper. Paint the ceiling and trim crisp white. Create decorative beams by attaching strips of salvaged wood or stained two-by-fours to the ceiling a few feet apart. Hang planks of weathered wood or salvaged shutters beside the windows.

Furniture and Fabric

Keep the furnishing simple and rustic. Choose a bed made of iron or wood. Decoupage fish prints onto the front of a plain wooden dresser, and then add drawer pulls shaped like boat cleats. A small chest or canvas-covered ottoman makes a practical nightstand. Dress the windows with natural canvas panels and rope tie-backs. For bedding, layer fish-print flannel sheets with a plaid comforter in blues, greens and browns. Add throw pillows shaped like trout, bass or other game fish. Brighten the floor with a colorful rag rug.

Storage

A boy needs plenty of space for stowing his belongings and treasures. Place a trunk at the foot of the bed for storing off-season clothes and extra bedding. Hang a wooden peg rack on the wall for jackets, hats and backpacks. Fishing creels mounted on the walls provide hidden storage for toys, electronics and other small items. A stack of tackle boxes holds school supplies, prized collections and fishing gear. Shelves housed in a boat-shaped frame offer storage and display for books, photos and souvenirs from fishing trips.

Gear

Complete the fishing-themed bedroom with decorative angler gear. On the walls, hang rods and reels, oars, nets and framed collections of lures, flies, bobbers and floats. Make a mobile that looks like a big catch. String fish made from fabric or wood on a length of twine, and then hang the mobile from the ceiling beams with fishing line. Place colorful wooden buoys throughout the room. Pile an assortment in a corner, hang them from the bedpost and suspend them at varying heights from the ceiling. Light your little fisherman's room with lantern-shaped lamps. Hang a "Gone Fishing" sign on the outside of the door.

Fishing Decor

Decorating with fishing decor is a perfect idea for those who love the great outdoors and the sport of fishing. It also can be difficult to source good quality home décor that incorporates a fish motif.  The best place to find fishing décor that will transform your home into a lodge theme retreat is Black Forest Decor.  Here you’ll find everything from Rainbow Trout Dinnerware, to Fly Fishing Valances, Ceiling Mount Light Fixtures to Lake Lifestyle Bedding.

Decorating with a few pieces of fish décor goes hand in hand in log homes and cabins. It’s a great way to connect with nature and bring the outdoors in.  As with any unique décor item, it’s important to refer to the design rule of thumb that sometimes less is more.  Whether it’s a throw pillow with a fishing motif, a ceiling lamp, throw blanket or mirror, decorating with wildlife home décor pays homage to a sense of adventure and quiet moments on a lake.

Black Forest Decor also has a great selection of bear, wildlife, moose and deer décor for the living room, dining room, kitchen and bedrooms. Check out their Fishing Bobber Table Lamp situated on a square wooden base and features a round burlap shade.  Or the gorgeous fishing reel table lamp that seems to bend with the weight of the ‘big one.’ The Adirondack Chair Lake Table Lamp is a favorite among many and lights a log cabin or rustic retreat with a stained red Adirondack chair base with a metal fishing rod and hand-painted parchment shade.

I will not deny that it flattered me. There was more booze, we had fun talking. And soon Tolik offered to move to his home, and we all held him together. Tolik got behind the wheel, and the three of us - in the back seat of the car, he promised that in half. An hour we would arrive.

And I will ask you to forget me. The last phrase struck painfully in the girl's heart. She already understood that she could not allow parting with her boyfriend. She loved him very much.

Soon I was already dressed like Santa Claus only in white. They even wore a bra on me. And I came up with this myself, said Katya, taking out white fluffy knee-highs from her bag. And they look like felt boots and we won't tear stockings.

The lawyer called, said that everything was ready, that he was interested, and immediately sat down and did it. Asked to inform about the results. I thanked him. - Everything, a letter in the mail, let's send it, - I turned to Alenka. They sent a letter to the maniac, and she called Oksanka, telling her and reassuring her.
