Boring Contractors, LLC
Underground Utility Construction Michigan
Boring Contractors, LLC provides Michigan with underground utility and infrastructure construction services via three methods of service: horizontal directional drilling (HDD) more commonly called directional boring, horizontal auger boring and hand-tunneling.
We provide Michigan commercial, residential and municipal owners and contractors with underground utility construction services specializing in the underground directional boring of utility pipelines for electric power, solar, wind, telephone, satellite, cable, TV, Internet, wi-fi, fiber optic, security, oil, gas, petroleum, steam, sewer, drain, water and irrigation crossings.
As an Michigan expert boring contracting company, we excavate an opening beneath the ground without disturbing the surface to bore underground pipes for utility line crossings of all types of diameters and lengths both large and small.
From electrical to fiber optic runs, oil and gas pipelines, sewer lines and water mains, our boring company team uses directional boring techniques to place HDPE, PVC and steel pipe, conduit and cables under almost any surface like concrete slabs, driveways, roadways, sidewalks and walkways in diverse terrains like dirt, clay, rock, sand and even in Kalkaska - Michigan’s state soil.
We have decades of directional drilling experience and have bored and installed utility pipelines under trees, under roads, under bridges, under railroad tracks and routed utility cables under waterways, lakes, rivers and even harbors.

Directional Boring Contractors
Directional boring is a common process in construction projects. Directional boring services are required whenever a pipeline is to be installed or when communications lines are required. Laying gas lines, oil pipelines, water lines, and fiber optic lines are all frequent projects for companies and municipalities, so directional drilling services are often needed.
Southeast Directional Drilling is one of the premier horizontal directional drilling contractors in the industry. A wide range of challenging projects has earned the company both a reputation as an industry leader and a high level of respect. Recently, in Trinidad, Southeast was responsible for the installation of a 56 inch diameter pipeline. Three separate bores of 2200 to 2500 feet were dug and the pilot holes reamed to an incredible 72 inches in diameter so as to accommodate the enormous pipeline. This truly is a record setting project.
This is not Southeast’s only engineering record, however. A 6,380 foot bore performed by Southeast was a record at the time and remained so for some time. The company is also responsible for North America’s deepest directionally drilled river crossing. At over 800 feet deep, this is an accomplishment rarely seen in the directional drilling industry. These are only some of the many interesting and remarkable projects Southeast Directional Drilling has completed and the company is looking forward to many more years of success.
Much of the company’s success is due to its top-notch management team. The company’s management professionals have been in the pipeline and directional drilling industry for a combined 100 plus years and they know what it takes to get the job done right. Southeast Directional Drilling Prepared for All Soil Conditions
After years of preparation, work on the Northern Natural Gas (NNG) Cedar Station Upgrade in Dakota County, Minnesota (US), was completed in the autumn of 2019. Approximately eight miles (12.9 km) of 20 in. (50.8 cm) steel pipeline was installed around the Twin Cities suburb of Eagan. The new pipeline loops NNG’s Rosemount Junction to the Minneapolis No. 1 branch line, and is part of a 14 700 mile (23 657.4 km) pipeline connecting from Texas through Minnesota to upper Michigan.
The bulk of the work on the Cedar Station Upgrade project …Read More News

Horizontal Directional Drilling (HDD) referred to as horizontal or directional boring is an alternative to traditional open-cut utility trenching methods.
Thousands of customers have trusted us to solve their underground utility construction pipe placement needs. You can too.
Some of the benefits of Directional Boring include:
Directional Boring is Environmentally Friendly - Using specialized equipment underground utility facilities and infrastructure are installed, repaired or replaced with minimal ecological disturbance. Utility facilities can be installed under roads and highways, buildings, under forests, under wetlands and bodies of water.
Directional Boring Minimizes Disturbance to Surroundings - No one likes their home, business or morning drive to be affected by utility construction. The footprint for a directional boring zone is usually smaller than a traditional construction zone and is often situated in an existing right of way.
Directional Boring Decreases Rehabilitation Time - Because directional boring methods require little digging, the time to rehabilitate the work area to as-found or better condition is dramatically decreased.
Directional Boring Saves Time - With decreased surface disturbance, utility projects using directional boring methods take less time to complete. Less completion time means less inconvenience associated with a utility construction project.
Directional Boring Saves Money - Because directional boring projects can be completed in less time, including site preparation and surface restoration. Underground utility line installation projects that rely on directional boring save money.
